Rockford Country Club is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Rockford, Iowa.
Rockford Country Club first opened for play in 1964. The course was designed by Beryl Taylor.
Jim Dow purchased the 75-acre 9-hole golf course property for $120,000 on Dec. 22, 2005, from Rockford Golf and Country Club Inc. The 2011 assessed value was $259,510, including $166,760 for the building and $92,750 for the land. The assessed value was $314,940 in 2007 through 2009, according to Floyd County records.
A former member of the Rockford Golf and Country Club board of directors said the board cut Dow a good deal on the price for the course because members wanted to ensure its sustainability.
In 2011 trees were removed and the parking lot bulldozed. The property was placed on the market with a $650,000 asking price.
Some local golfers are a bit unhappy and view Dow as opportunistic.
